Wheat, beans, rice, lentils and chickpeas are all staple grains of this region. The geography in most of this area is either mountainous or desert. Where crops can be grown irrigation is needed. Most of the "productive grazing land" in this region is found in Central Iran, most of Saudi Arabia, with the exception of the mountains along the coastline. Camels, goats and sheep graze on the land in these areas. Some crops, including dates, coffee, tobacco, cotton, wheat, fruits and oil are produced.
